Subject:- E –Payment of Central Excise Duties – reg.
It is for the information of the trade that the e-Payment facility for Central Excise and Service Tax was inaugurated by the Finance Minister on 11th May, 2005.
2. The 5 banks i.e. Union Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, HDFC Bank and the UTI Bank have started offering the e-Payment facility as of now. Names of other banks will be intimated as soon as they start offering the e-Payment facility.
3. The Internet Banking option provided by the banks for payment of Central Excise and Service Tax mainly consists of the following :-
(i) Solution is available to :-
· Customer of any of the Core Banking branches of the Bank.
· A taxpayer who poses PAN based 15 digit Assessee Code.
· Customers having registration with the bank opting for e-payment
· Customers having Banks’ Internet banking ID
(ii) Payment Timing :
· This is a 24/7 facility and as such, customers can make the payment any time of the
day.
· All payments effected up to 8 PM will be accounted for the day itself and all
payments effected after 8 PM will be accounted as next working day’s receipt.
(iii) Area of Coverage
· Facility is available to the Central Excise and Service Tax assessees registered
with Central Excise Department and for the Commissionerates for which the bank
is authorised to collect Indirect Tax revenue.
(iv) Advantages :
The main advantages to the Central Excise assessee in this facility are as follows -
· Ease of operation and convenience
· Facility is available on 24 x 7 basis
· One can pay on behalf of the firm, company and others
· On-line payment of taxes (No more queues and waiting)
· Filling of single challans form
· Selection of appropriate tax-type from drop-down menu
· Instant Cyber receipts for the payment made
· Receipted copy of challans delivered at doorstep.
4. For the Central Excise assessees who opt to maintain account with the concern bank and willing to use Internet banking facility the work flow of e-Payment procedure is furnished in the Annexure – “A” enclosed.
In line with the necessity of moving to e-Payment system,
co-operation from all assesses is requested. All trade associations are
requested to bring the contents of this Trade Notice to the notice of their
member manufacturers in particular and the trade in general.
